Hi, I'm Amy, and I've been that person standing in the skincare aisle for twenty minutes reading the back of a moisturizer and understanding exactly none of it.
I got frustrated enough to do something about it.
Basil & Bougie started on my kitchen counter in Farmington, Minnesota with a jar of grass-fed tallow and a whole lot of curiosity. I wanted skincare that worked, that I could actually trust, and that didn't require a chemistry degree to understand. What I found was that the simplest ingredients, the ones humans have used for centuries, work better than most of what's on store shelves today.
So I started making my own. Whipped tallow balm. Magnesium oil spray. Tallow lip balm. Small batches, real ingredients, nothing synthetic. Products I use on myself, my kids, and anyone else who will let me.
Then came the sourdough.
Same philosophy, different medium. I wanted bread that was actually bread. Made with a live starter, real flour, and time. No shortcuts, no additives, no ingredient list you need a magnifying glass to read. Every loaf is slow-fermented and baked fresh, available for local pickup in Farmington on Sundays. It is the kind of bread that makes your whole house smell like something worth coming home to.

Basil & Bougie is a one-woman operation. I handcraft every product, bake every loaf, pack every order, and personally respond to every message.
